Proposing on April Fool’s Day: hilarious?

Mr DTE fake-proposed to me about, ooh, 10 times before he actually did it for real. This spanned about 2 years of our relationship. So much so that when he actually did it for real, at first I thought he was joking. He’s like the boy who cried marriage.

Imagine if the first time he did it, I shouted ‘YES! I DO!’ I should have done it to freak him out. HA – that would have taught him a lesson.

I’ve now learnt that he is not the first guy to have ever done this. Apparently this is quite common? I’m not sure if this is some psychological test, to see how we react. Maybe if Mr DTE had have seen a Jojo-shaped hole in the wall, he’d have had doubts about asking me to marry him for real. I must admit, the first time it did leave me feeling slightly confused, but mostly it just made me roll my eyes, trying not to smirk as I said ‘No you silly arse, no I won’t. Now get up.’

I’m guessing someone out there has probably proposed on April Fool’s Day as a joke, right? And someone will be doing it today too. To whoever you are – you are brave, or maybe the word is stupid. I hope he/she runs and flings themselves into your arms like this lady above. HA.

Happy Friday loved ones. I hope you all have lovely evening plans, involving gin AND tonic x

Where to now?  Have you seen my top tips and recommendations on the first steps for newly engagedlings?

I'm a 32 year-old newlywed bride, living in London. I recently got married (July 2016) and am here to spread wedding joy and worldly wedding advice to fellow bridelings who don't want their weddings to take over their lives. Let's laugh (nervously) in the face of bonkers wedding planning!
