Have you felt the pressure of the wedding diet?

It’s Easter. The day of religion…and chocolate. Most of us will spend the day munching away on a chocolate bunny…am I right? Or maaaaybe we won’t…as soon as I got engaged I noticed endless adverts and Pinterest boards about #theweddingdiet. Oh good, another wedding pressure we don’t need.

I’ve heard horror stories of bridelings being asked, whilst wedding dress shopping no less, ‘When are you starting your wedding diet’? WOW. I think (and hope) it is pretty rare to be asked this at wedding dress appointments. However, since getting engaged, I have definitely noticed (from all sorts of directions) the pressure to slim down for the ‘big day’.

It was at the moment when I first saw in a wedding magazine ‘Your Wedding Day Countdown’ and at month 11 or something ‘Begin wedding diet’, that I decided to start Down-to-earth brides. I strongly feel this kind of thing is nuts. And I haven’t even felt the brunt as I haven’t been asked about a wedding diet outright. I can’t imagine how crap it must feel. What a mixture of emotions if you’re so excited about it all and this just shoots you down.

I know that this pressure can exist for men too, but (and do correct me if I’m wrong) I don’t think it’s anything like the pressure women feel. I won’t rant on, but I hope you all take a minute to have a chocolate bunny today, or fifty, and I hope people don’t ever make you feel pressured to do any extreme dieting.

Happy Easter, you beauties x

I'm a 32 year-old newlywed bride, living in London. I recently got married (July 2016) and am here to spread wedding joy and worldly wedding advice to fellow bridelings who don't want their weddings to take over their lives. Let's laugh (nervously) in the face of bonkers wedding planning!
